The 16th-century Ottoman bridge over the Neretva — Mostar's UNESCO-listed symbol and home of the daily bridge divers.

The Stari Most (Old Bridge) is a reconstructed 16th-century Ottoman bridge arcing over the Neretva river in Mostar. The original, commissioned by Suleiman the Magnificent and completed in 1566, stood for 427 years before being destroyed in 1993 during the war. The bridge was reopened in 2004 and added to UNESCO's World Heritage list in 2005. Today it is Mostar's most recognizable landmark, famous for the traditional divers who leap 24 meters from the bridge into the cold Neretva — a centuries-old custom that now runs as an organized performance in summer.
